Regulations & Guidelines

Clean Machine follow and comply with all relevant regulations and guidelines, from risk assessments to exposure control plans.  We are fully trained and insured.  Due to the type of work carried out by Clean Machine, Health and Safety is of utmost importance to us, all biohazard work is carried out in accordance with the guidelines and regulations.  Training has been carried out and certified by the IIRCC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification).

Clean Machine use Universal Precautions as a standard approach to infection control as according to this concept all human blood, certain body fluids or other potentially hazardous materials are to be treated as if known to be infectious for HIV, HBV and other blood borne pathogens.  Blood borne pathogens are micro-organisms within the blood itself and they can be transported by blood and other body fluids such as urine, semen, saliva and vomit to name just a few.

A biological hazard (biohazard) is any micro-organism, cell culture or human endoparasite, including those which have been genetically modified which can cause infection, allergy, toxicity or otherwise create a hazard to human health.

Regulations state that personnel should not be placed in a position to where they are exposed to blood spills without first having:

  1. Received blood borne pathogen training
  2. A written exposure control plan
  3. Been provided with personal protection equipment
  4. Been offered a Hepatitis B vaccine
  5. Training on how to remove/store biohazard waste in appropriate containers for disposal at approved sites

Regulations and Guidelines Followed:

HSWA – Health and Safety at Work
MHSWR – Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations
EPA – Environmental Protection Agency
RIDDOR – Reporting of Incident, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrence Regulations
PPE – Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations
COSHH – Control of Substances Hazardous to Health
