Mould Remediation

More than a square metre of mould is considered a public health issue. The key to mould removal is moisture control, it is impossible to get rid of all mould spores indoors as there will always be some present in house dust and floating in the air. What Is Ozone?

Ozone (O3) contains three atoms of oxygen rather than the two atoms (O2) we normally breathe. Ozone is a powerful sterilizing agent and its function is to destroy bacteria, viruses and odours.
Ozone occurs in nature, most often as a result of lightning strikes that occur during thunderstorms. in fact that "fresh, clean, spring rain" smell that we notice after a storm most often results from natures’ creation of ozone.
However, we are probably most familiar with ozone from reading about the "ozone layer" which circles above the earth’s atmosphere, where ozone is created by the sun's ultra-violet rays and it serves to protect us from the ultra-violet radiation.

How Does Ozone Work?

While ozone is very powerful, it has a very short life cycle, when faced with odours, bacteria or viruses the extra atom of oxygen destroys them completely by oxidation. As result of this process, that extra atom of oxygen is destroyed and there is nothing left:

no odour
no bacteria
no extra atom
only oxygen

In addition to the effectiveness of ozone, we also know that it is safe to use. We know this from our own safe exposures daily to ozone - weather, being locked in traffic or passing through industrial areas. These exposures have no effect on us, beyond our acknowledging the smell associated with ozone. It is the strength of this smell that provides ozone with it's "built in" safety mechanism. Ozone is safe because we notice its smell at very residual levels. ozone provides its own protection, a strong bleach-like smell. Research has proven that a limited exposure to a low level of ozone would have no serious long term affect on us just as it does not affect us when caught in a traffic jam during rush hour.

Fire And Flood Damage Odour Removal

Mould grows in medium to high humidity (55% +) even when dry mould can cause respiratory problems. By using a mould redemption plan and an ozone generator, mould growth can be inhibited. Removing the visible mould, disinfecting the surfaces with ozone and the reduction of moisture are just about the only way to solve a mould problem.

Will the odour come back?
No, if ozone is applied properly it destroys (oxidizes) the source of the odour. However, in the case of mould/mildew, the odour will return if you are unable to get rid of the moisture that is the source of the mould/mildew.

Void Cleans

Clean Machine offers this service for cleaning void properties and empty houses, biohazard cleaning can be needed in these properties due to decaying rubbish, faeces or other substances which create the bio-hazard. We are trained in the safe removal of syringes, razor blades and any other sharp items that could cause lacerations or puncture wounds. Clean Machine have a biohazard waste carrier licence and operate in accordance with government standards and regulations. All properties will be emptied, disinfected and all belongings removed from the property will be fully documented. A certification of cleanliness is provided to the property owner on completion.
